Explore the Art of the Big Band from 1920 to present. Play in an 18 piece ensemble directed by Audrey Morrison, Director of Jazz Studies at MIC. Listen to classic recordings and imitate by playing compositions from many periods. Concepts of time-feel, phrasing, articulation, balance, sound, section playing and concepts of big band composition will be explored. Sight reading opportunities will be offered on a daily basis. Must have 1 year prior jazz band experience.
