Oboe Intensive (includes Reed-Making Workshop)

Daily Schedule:

 

Friday, June 21:

7 - 8:30 pm     Coaching and Craft-make your own reed case

 

Saturday, June 22 

10am - 12 pm:  Chamber music rehearsals, coachings, master class

12 - 1 pm:         Lunch

1-5 pm:             Oboe reed-making workshop

5-6 pm:             Chamber music coaching

 

Sunday, June 23

10am - 12 pm:  Chamber music rehearsals, coachings, master class

12 - 1 pm:         Lunch

1-5 pm:             Oboe reed-making workshop

5 pm:               Pre-reception

5:30 pm:           Faculty and Oboe Intensive closing recital      


Prerequisite: at least 1year experience playing oboe
Cost:  $415 for both Oboe intensive and Reed-Making Workshop
           (includes cane and other reed-making supplies)
           ($30 registration fee for new/returning students)

Are you ready to take it to the next level? Sign up for Oboe Intensive! Participants will receive the expert instruction of the oboe reed-making workshop, plus a fun, fast-paced chamber music experience. Join us and learn more about team-building, playing chamber music independently, communication techniques, intonation, tone, technique, musical styles, English horn, oboe d’amore, performance techniques, and audition tips. This camp is appropriate for beginning and advanced reed makers alike.


Camp activities will include the following:

  • Oboe Reed-Making Workshop >>
  • Master classes with Erica Anderson and guest artist Anne Bach
  • Hands-on experience with the English horn and oboe d'amore
  • Playing oboe chamber music (duets, trios, quartets)
  • Participating in the end-of-camp recital

 

About the Faculty:

Erica Anderson, Camp Director: Erica is Music Institute of Chicago (MIC) Chair of the Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion department and MIC oboe faculty.  In addition she serves on faculty at both Elmhurst College and Carthage College and is a member of the Chicago Philharmonic and Quintet Attacca.

 

Anne Bach, Guest Clinician: Anne is principal oboe with the Chicago Philharmonic and Music of the Baroque and is also an oboist with the Grant Park Symphony.
