About Musikgarten

Early Childhood Music & Movement

MIC Musikgarten® classes offer a comprehensive, sequential plan for the musical development of children, birth to age seven, in a joyful and stimulating educational environment even in our virtual world. Specialists agree that early exposure to music plays an important role in children's emotional, intellectual and social development. Developmentally appropriate activities build fundamental musical skills and help prepare children for a wide range of music and school activities. Weekly interaction with other children and parents online help to create a close knit of friends and community. Our online classes will seek to not only engage the children but also to give parents ideas so that they may continue to enjoy the activities with their child(ren) throughout the week.

Our Musikgarten® teachers are highly trained professional musicians with extensive classroom and field experience in early childhood music education. They have quickly adapted to interacting and encouraging participation from students online and forming connections between parents and students even in a virtual setting. Teachers often bring additional instruments to play for the children during the class, such as the violin, guitar, cello, flute, or piano.

Musikgarten®’s programs are based on meeting the developmental needs of children as they grow.  Favorite songs, stories and dances are revisited throughout each class, building on what each child has mastered and enjoyed and making successful learning easier. Each week builds upon the previous week, repeating favorite songs and adding new ones throughout the semester. This bulids confidence and familiarity for the children and the parents who participate in class.

Family Involvement
Parents and caregivers actively participate and serve as the musical role model at home by singing, dancing, and participating in activities. This will help the children to engage more fully in the class activities while enjoying special time with their parents. Musikgarten® participants receive CDs (and a link to a playlist), family activity guides, and simple instruments that parents may use as they continue making music with their child at home.
