Chamber Music for Adults  

Please submit an online application to participate. If you are new to the chamber music program, you are required to submit a video recording of two contrasting pieces of your choice. Continuing students must submit an application form; no video is required. Each semester is 15-weeks in length.


Chamber Music Priority Application Deadline:  July 15

Apply by July 15 to have your registration fee waived and to receive priority placement.


Chamber Music Final Application Deadline:  August 1

Those who apply after August 1 will be added to a waitlist and accommodated if opportunities become available.

Chamber Music Workshops for Adults

Join colleagues in a casual setting to read through chamber music.  Participants are placed into chamber ensembles and scores will be emailed approximately two weeks ahead of time so that assigned repertoire can be prepared.  Workshop open to strings, piano, woodwinds and brass intermediate level or higher. 


November 10 - Winnetka (RSVP by October 10)

March 9 - Evanston East (RSVP by February 10)
April 13 - Winnetka (RSVP by March 10)

Interested individuals must RSVP in order to participate, and the event is open to any individuals from the community




In addition to regular chamber music study, the Music Institute of Chicago offers the following specialized duo classes for youth:


Duo-Piano Master Class (15 weeks)

2 piano duos working together with one coach, taught master class style

Duo-Piano Chamber Music (15 weeks)

Duo Piano Class (ages 8-18) - Spring semester only

Music Institute of Chicago is home to the Chicago Duo Piano Festival. Learn the art of performing duo-piano chamber music, including piano four hands and piano duo repertoire. Placement interview required.


     Class day/time: 1st & 3rd Fridays | 7:30-8:15 pm

     Cost: $252 per semester

Quartet Strings

This small ensemble for adults emphasizes the string quartet literature of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and others. Open to string players with prior musical experience.
