Music Institute of Chicago Virtual Suzuki Festival

In light of our recent cancellation of the Chicago Suzuki Institute for the summer of 2020, we will instead be offering the Music Institute of Chicago Virtual Suzuki Festival, an online experience for violin, viola, piano and cello students ranging from Book 2 and up. The Festival will run from Monday June 29th through Friday July 3rd. Each student will receive 3 hours of instruction a day: a masterclass, a group class, and a rotating slot of enrichment courses. Class sizes will be small - masterclasses of 3 or fewer student and groups of no more than 8 students. All classes will be taught by members of our renowned CSI faculty. Registration will remain open until June 7th.


There are different program offerings:

 

Student Program: Book 2 and up
Available for Violin, Viola, and Cello
Tuition: $360
-Masterclass 
-Technique class
-Enrichment
-Play ins

Advanced Program: Book 6 and Up*
Available for Violin, Viola (book 5 and up), and Cello 
Tuition: $450
-Individual lessons 
-Technique class
-Enrichment
-Virtual Cello Choir / Violin Choir / Viola Choir
-Option to participate in masterclass with Guest Artists Amy Barston, Katie Lansdale and others! (audition video required)

Piano Program: 
-Student Tuition: $360
-Advanced Tuition: $450
-Classes to be announced

 


For Advanced Program students wanting to submit an audition recording to participate in the MICVSF Guest Artist Masterclass, please fill out this Application Form.

We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and concern for the health and safety of our students, parents, and faculty, we have decided to cancel the Chicago Suzuki Institute for the summer of 2020. This includes all Short-Term Teacher Training Courses, Every Child Can, Student, Chamber and Advanced Programs. No payments were processed for the institute from any registrations received.

 

We wish for you and your family to remain safe and healthy this summer, and to continue keeping music a daily part of your routine. We hope to see you back for CSI 2021, which will be held from July 3 - July 11


 

 
*** Chamber and Advanced program audition results will be shared via email by 6 pm (CST)  on Monday June 1st. ***
 
 
Early bird tuition discount for registrations postmarked by/on May 1st or scanned/emailed back by mid-night on May 1, 2020.
 
See below for registration fee policy deadlines.

Registration fee (per family/teacher trainer) varies depending on the following...

       Registration Fee is waived if registration with payment in full is received postmarked by March 31st

       Registration Fee is discounted 50% to $30 if registration with payment in full is received postmarked between April 1st and May 1st

       Registration Fee is at regular $60 level if registration with payment in full is received postmarked between May 2nd and May 31st or for any registrations received postmarked by May 1st without a payment in full

       Registration Fee is $75 for any registrations received postmarked after June 1st

Chamber Music Program Checklist

  1. Completed Chamber Music/Advanced Program Assessment Form.  This form should be filled out WITH your TEACHER.

  2. Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s home teacher

  3. Completed Registration Form (see below)

  4. Completed Chamber Music/Advanced Program Audition Form

  5. Completed Housing/Meal Plan Form, if applicable (see pg2 below)
