JAZZ COMBOS FOR ADULTS
6 weeks • 60 minutes • $133
Practice improvising in many styles of jazz, including swing, blues, bebop, Dixieland, Latin and contemporary. Emphasis will include learning jazz standards and will provide the opportunity to perform original compositions. Students are placed in small combos based on age and level.
Jazz Combo (grade 9 - college) - for students with at least two years prior experience in jazz and an intermediate to advanced level in jazz improvisation.

JAZZ IMPROVISATION FOR ADULTS
6 weeks • 45 minutes • $122 ($40 if registered for a combo)
Increase your knowledge of jazz theory and jazz history and enhance your creativity through “playing by ear” on your instrument. Learn to interpret great jazz recordings through listening and imitation. All instruments are welcome.

Ambassador Big Band and Improvisation (grades 9-adult) • 90 minutes • $420 • 15 weeks
This class offers students the opportunity to improve their ensemble, improvisational and sightreading skills. Participants will play by ear as well as read jazz arrangements. Jazz styles will range from New Orleans to Swing, Bebop, Latin, Modal and Fusion. Learn to interpret great recordings through listening and imitation. All instruments are welcome. Latin Jazz Combo and Improvisation (adults) • 90 minutes • $420 • 15 weeks
The Latin/Jazz Combo and Improvisation class offers students the opportunity to explore a wide variety of Latin styles including Afro-Cuban and Central and South American. Students will learn the basics of Latin percussion and their rhythmic patterns in each style. Participants will play by ear and develop their own arrangements. Great Latin/Jazz recordings will be interpreted in class. All instruments and voice are welcome. Phone consultation required to ensure proper placement. Listening to Music: A Selective Survey of Human Musical Expression for Adults – for non-musicians • 60 minutes • $150 • 15 weeks
Come and experience a survey of musical expression across many genres (jazz, classical, rock, R&B, blues, folk, Latin and more) and cultures from around the world with pianist, singer, and composer, Fred Simon. This class will emphasize the multitude of connections between genres, cultures, and eras and will also illuminate women's contributions to all styles. Hear quintessential and influential recordings of each genre with guided discussion. This class is for non-musicians – no musical experience is necessary to enjoy this class and learn more about music and musical expression.

Come and experience a survey of musical expression across many genres (jazz, classical, rock, R&B, blues, folk, Latin and more) and cultures from around the world with pianist, singer, and composer, Fred Simon. This class will emphasize the multitude of connections between genres, cultures, and eras and will also illuminate women's contributions to all styles. Hear quintessential and influential recordings of each genre with guided discussion. This class is for musicians and will include substantial discussion of musical details as we explore music and musical expression.
