William Warfield Memorial Scholarship

William Warfield Memorial Scholarship

An icon of American music performance for 50 remarkable years, famed operatic baritone William Warfield was a longstanding member of the Music Institute's Board of Trustees.  Scholarships were established in his memory to enable minority students to study with the distinguished faculty as a tribute to Mr. Warfield's heartfelt desire to share his knowledge, skills, and love of music.

Each year ticket proceeds from the Music Institute of Chicago’s annual celebration of the legendary civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. support the William Warfield Memorial Scholarship Fund. This year scholarship recipients performed Jesus Paid it All with the renowned Brotherhood Chorale of the Apostolic Church of God, a 180-member male choral group, on Sunday, January 19 at Nichols Concert Hall.
