Music Festival in Honor of Confucius

Sunday, October 25, 2015

On Sunday, October 25, the Confucius Competition, part of the larger annual Music Festival in Honor of Confucius sponsored by the the Chinese Fine Arts Society, took place.  The competition, open to cellists, violinists and pianists, ages 18 years or younger, provides a great introduction for participants to the rich heritage of Chinese music.  Each year, hundreds of young musicians perform Chinese music selected from a required repertoire list, as well as a western piece of their choosing, for a panel of judges. Congratulations to all the Music Institute of Chicago students who participated in this exciting event.  In addition, a special "Winners Concert" featuring the top scoring performers in each age category on Sunday, December 6 at the Merit School of Music in Chicago.
