Celebrate Small Victories! ~ Kim Early & Ginny Warren

Kim Early (L) and Ginny Warren started studying the soprano recorder with Music Institute Faculty member Patrick O'Malley last year.

This year they are also learning to play the alto recorder (pictured), which is a 5th lower, in the key of F.  Unlike other woodwinds, recorder players have to learn to transpose while reading. Kim and Ginny are learning solo sonatas by L'oeillet in their private lessons.  They also switch between soprano and alto recorders in a chamber music group class.

Congratulations to Kim and Ginny for learning so quickly and for being aficionados of all types of the recorder!

"Hiding a Nancy Drew mystery book in the piano bench while keeping one eye on the front room window so I could go back to practicing when my mom drove up was NOT effective practicing."
