MIC Brass @ the 2015 Chicago Brass Festival

MIC had a huge showing at the 2015 Chicago Brass Festival!

The 7th annual Chicago Brass Festival was
held on March 13-14, 2015 at Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago.

This year's Festival featured artists, former MIC ensemble-in-residence Axiom Brass, and the Chicago Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble (CALJE) led by Music Institute Brass Faculty member Victor Garcia (Watch a video of Victor in action with CALJE).

MIC faculty member Chris Hasselbring performed with the NEIU faculty brass quintet and led performances by Brass for Beginners® students from Evanston's Lincoln Elementary school; along with three MIC Trumpet Ensembles.  The three MIC Trumpet Ensembles have performed at every Festival since it began in 2009.

Additionally, five MIC trumpeters were invited to perform with Festival Brass, the festival's featured all-star high school brass ensemble (see above photo).

This year's participating MIC trumpeters included:
Charlie Clarke, Filip Czarkowski, Emily Booden, Francisco Espinoza, Imogen Eyler, Paul Hletko, John Kinne, Victoria Seliger, Daniel Vargas, and Jefferson Wenzel.

"Each of my teachers built up different parts of my playing and teaching abilities, but the thing they all shared was a genuine concern for my well-being as a person, not just as a cellist."
