SAM Competition Winners

Congratulations to Amon Sahelijo, guitar student of Brad Conroy at the MIC Lake Forest Campus  Amon placed first in the guitar senior division of the annual Society of American Musicians Competition (SAM).

Amon has also been an active volunteer for MIC playing at outreach events and helping out with instrument petting zoos in the past.  Amon is from Holland and is a senior at Libertyville High School.  He's been studying with Mr. Conroy for eight years.

The Society of American Musicians was founded in 1914 with the intent of promoting the best interests of music in America, and maintaining the highest standards of musicianship. Through the competition, its awards, and performance opportunities, the Society offers assistance and encouragement to young musicians and promising artists. The Society of American Musicians hosts an annual competition for a wide range of instruments: cello, guitar, flute, piano, viola, and violin each spring in Chicago. Instrumentalists under the age of 24, who currently reside in the United States, are eligible to participate in the competition.
