The Academy at the Music Institute of Chicago, a comprehensive program for advanced pre-college string and piano students, has established itself as one of this country's top training centers for students with extraordinary talent. Dedicated students commute each Saturday from as far as Ann Arbor and Indianapolis, while international students have relocated to Chicago from Korea, China, Japan, Central America, and South America, to join the program.

Overview - Each year, approximately 25 students between the ages of 12 and 18 make their way to the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park for a rigorous ten-hour day each Saturday. The concept of the program has always been focused on providing a comprehensive musical education that best serves students preparing for conservatory training. The curriculum includes private lessons, orchestra, chamber music, piano skills, and improvisation for piano students, multiple levels of music theory, and significant performance opportunities for developing musicians. In addition, students participate in regular enrichment classes that include master classes, lectures, and workshops featuring renowned guest artists and pedagogues.
