The unique legacy of drummer and bandleader Art Blakey makes this a truly special event, not to be missed. Blakey founded and led the Jazz Messengers, a collective that influenced generations of leading musicians through mentorship and intergenerational collaboration. The Music Institute of Chicago pays tribute with a concert featuring Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers alumni Charles Toliver, Robin Eubanks and Javon Jackson; singer and MIC artist-in-residence Tammy McCann; and drummer Clif Wallace and his Big Band.
