Education: 

Erica attended Interlochen Arts Academy, Eastman School of Music, and DePaul University. She received her Master's Degree in Oboe Performance from DePaul, her Bachelor's Degree in Oboe Performance from Eastman School of Music, and also worked on oboe performance at Interlochen Arts Academy.

Significant teachers and mentors: 

A few of her most significant teachers/mentors from over the years are: Richard Killmer, Robert Morgan, and Daniel Stolper.

Teaching philosophy and areas of expertise: 

Ms. Anderson views her approach to teaching as being extremely beneficial for her students. She works with a combination of things, trying to implement both a thoughtful and humorous approach to oboe teaching. She believes that given her method, her students are able to have fun and excel at what they are doing.

Awards and achievements: 

Among many other prestigious accomplishments, Ms. Anderson has received the 2011 Every Child Can award, the 2006-2008 Professional Development Program Ensemble of the Chicago Chamber Musicians award, and has recorded on Naxos with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. Erica has also performed with the Chicago Philharmonic, Joffery Ballet, MusicNOW, Present Music, Lyric Opera, Music of the Baroque, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, and the Chicago, Grant Park, Milwaukee, and Elgin Symphonies. She is also a founding member of the Quintet Attacca, and won the Gold Medal and Grand Prize of the 2002 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. With Quintet Attacca, she performs 40-50 formal and outreach concerts per year throughout the Midwest, in addition to being an instructor at the Music Institute of Chicago.

Professional affiliations & activities: 

Other professional affiliations and activities include: 2008-present Chicago Chamber Musicians Outreach Ensemble-in-Residence, 2007-present Music Institute of Chicago Ensemble-in-Residence, and being a founding member of Quintet Attacca. Quintet Attacca has performed on the Music Institute of Chicago Faculty and Guest Artist Series, the Rush Hour Series at St. James Cathedral, First Mondays at the Chicago Cultural Center, Live from Mayne Stage on WFMT, FermiLab, Pilgrim Chamber Players, NorthPark University, Jewel Box Series at Northeastern Illinois University, Lake Forest Lyrica, and over 100 performances in Chicago Public Schools. Ms. Anderson has also had oboe performances with Music of the Baroque, MusicNOW, Lyric Opera, and the Chicago, Milwaukee, and Elgin Symphonies.

Interests outside of music: 

Outside of the music world, Erica enjoys reading library books, movies, fitness, and activities with her kids (Daphne and Miles).
