Education: 

Stanley earned his Masters Degree in Music from Roosevelt University, his Bachelor's Degree in Music from Chicago Musical College, did a post graduate study at Northwestern University, and also had connections to DePaul University, and University of Illinois-Chicago.

Significant teachers and mentors: 

Over the years, Mr. Davis was touched by many talented musicians. A few of his most significant teachers/mentors from his years are: Albert Friedman, Jerome Stowell, and Dominic DeCaprio.

Teaching philosophy and areas of expertise: 

Mr. Davis' philosophy is his belief that every student should learn to read music well and interpret it as a soloist. Additionally, he has a great love for Big Band swing music.

Awards and achievements: 

Some of Stanley's biggest achievements are as follows: CSO member recorded Salome, Bolero, and others. Member of University of Chicago Contemporary Chamber Players - several recordings. TV broadcasts with Chicago Lyric Opera Staff member of WGN TV series.

Professional affiliations & activities: 

Other affiliations that Mr. Davis has are: Orchestra member Chicago Lyric Opera from 1959 - 2003; CCP of U of Chicago member from 1960 - 1980; Grant Park Orchestra from 1958 -65; WGN TV Orchestra Chicago Chamber Orchestra-performed many concertos, locally and on national tour. He has also been involved in numerous World Class Ballet companies and Broadway Musicals, as well as numerous faculty solo and Chamber Music performances.

Interests outside of music: 

In his free time, Mr. Davis enjoys, wood carving, painting, building model ships, and exploring the playing of the Australian Didgeridoo.

Favorite practice tip: 

Repeat, repeat, repeat - very slow - slow - faster, faster, faster. Concentration!!

Favorite composer or piece to play: 

Debussy's Premiere Rhapsodie. Mozart's Clarinet Concerto.

Favorite musical moment: 

Having completed playing Wagner's entire Ring cycle.
