Oboe Reed-Making Workshop


Ages: 11-adult, beginners through advanced oboists

Dates and Times: August 13-14 |  1-5 pm


Location:  Winnetka Campus, 300 Green Bay Road

Prerequisite: At least 9 months experience playing the oboe

Cost:  $270 (includes cane and other reed-making supplies)

Faculty: Erica Anderson - Oboe instructor at Music Institute of Chicago (MIC), Elmhurst College and Carthage College; Member of Chicago Philharmonic and Quintet Attacca

Would you like to learn how to make your own oboe reeds? Or would you like to become more consistent with your current reed making? Participants learn how to make oboe reeds, all while having a great time! This camp is appropriate for beginning and advanced reed makers alike. Reed materials are included. Participants will learn how to tie, scrape, finish, and fix oboe reeds!


Camp activities will include the folowing: blank making, blank scraping, trouble shooting current reeds, Frankenstein reed challenge, crafts, oboe reed-making Olympics with prizes!
