Summer Jazz Camps

Camp Director:  Audrey Morrison

2022 Jazz Camps are being held in person with the option to participate virtually via Zoom.

The Art of the Jazz Band Camps at the Music Institute of Chicago (MIC) offer students the opportunity to learn about jazz and improve their improvisation skills through work with some of Chicago's finest jazz performers and educators. Audrey Morrison, Director of Jazz Studies at MIC, leads interactive rehearsals, and members of the MIC jazz faculty offer sectionals, coaching, and master classes. Participants will learn how to read jazz arrangements and to play by ear. Group listening to jazz recordings and class discussion are included. The week will culminate with an open rehearsal for family and friends on the final day of camp.
