Unit Level Courses
Short Term Teacher Training Courses in violin, cello and piano are conducted as program of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA)
following the SAA current guidelines:
SAA Prerequisites to Training
- Every Child Can!® (ECC) is required prior to taking Unit 1
- Participants must complete the SAA videotape audition process to determine
their status in the course (see Beginning Suzuki Teacher Training)
- All audition materials must be submitted to the SAA and approved by course start.
- Audition processing takes approximately 2 weeks, if submitted online. Auditions submitted early have the advantage of an optional retry (with fees) within the stated deadlines if the first audition was not accepted..
- Participants must be active members of the SAA and be high school graduates
- Courses must be taken in order through Unit 3
The SAA training program is taught in sections corresponding to the Suzuki method books. Participants must prepare the pieces in the book to be studied
to a point of fluent performance. Memorization, although not required, is strongly suggested. At the Chicago Suzuki Institute, the teacher trainer reserves the right
to change the status of a participant to auditor if the participant is unprepared.
