"Music From Roosevelt University" Radio Program Features MIC Musicians

WFMT (98.7 FM), Chicago’s classical and fine arts radio station, will present music performed by Music Institute of Chicago' students and Roosevelt University students, faculty and alumni on a new weekly program called “Music from Roosevelt University.” Hosted by Henry Fogel, dean of Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts, the hour-long program began broadcasting this fall.

All programs air on Sundays from 4 - 5 pm CST on 98.7 WFMT Radio and stream live.

Current students and alumni of the Academy, MIC's program for pre-college students preparing for careers in music, will perform on about half of the programs.

“I know that WFMT listeners will be impressed with the quality and variety of performances we will present from Roosevelt’s concerts and theatrical productions,” Fogel said. “In addition to the performances, we will have interviews, information about Roosevelt and commentary about the performers and productions. I’m confident people will find it to be a lively and enjoyable hour.”

Fogel said the program will feature recorded solos, chamber ensembles and orchestral and operatic performances from student and faculty performances and recitals over the past two years in Roosevelt’s Ganz Hall. Orchestral music will feature recordings from performances in Orchestra Hall, Nichols Concert Hall and the Harris Theater.

No stranger to WFMT, Fogel is host of the “Collectors' Corner,” a weekly two-hour series, heard Sundays at 8 pm. Before joining Roosevelt, he was president of the League of American Orchestras from 2003 to 2008 and president of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association from 1985 to 2003.
