Enjoy the last of the orchestra concerts of the Academy's 2024 -2025 season, led by James Setapen, conductor.
The 19th season of the Academy concludes this Saturday night with an inspirational concert featuring MIC's talented orchestra students performing many beautiful pieces, including an all-time favorites, Percy Grainger’s– Irish Tune from County Derry (“O Danny Boy”). After the intermission, senior Jan Vargas Nedvetsky will deliver this year’s Senior Commencement Speech, followed by our traditional Senior Recognition Rose Ceremony. Those watching from home will be treated to an intermission slide show featuring our seniors.
About the Academy Program
Founded in 2006, the Music Institute of Chicago Academy is a nationally recognized training center for highly gifted, pre-college pianists and string players. The Academy provides a comprehensive musical education for students who aspire to be professional musicians. A carefully assembled faculty includes internationally recognized teachers and performers with a passion for developing young talent and an established track record of student achievement.
The Academy Orchestra is comprised of advanced high school violin, viola, cello and bass students who perform in competitions, festivals and summer programs across the globe.
Chamber Music Ensembles The Academy’s robust chamber music program has resulted in numerous national competition gold, silver and bronze medals since its inception in 2006. Chamber ensembles are coached by Academy artist faculty.
