Does MIC require masking at its campuses?

MIC maintains a "Masks Recommended" policy at all of its campus locations.

Please note that out of respect for everyone - faculty, students, and staff - personal adjustments to this policy will be made. For example, a faculty member may choose to require the students in their studio to remain masked, and MIC will support that decision. Likewise, a student or family member may request that their teacher remain masked. In addition, anyone may opt to remain masked indefinitely. In the days ahead, MIC will continue to watch the data closely and monitor and respond to the evolving guidance from the IDPH and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). We may make changes to this policy as conditions evolve.

What should I do if I have Covid-like symptoms?

If you are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, shortness of breath, or coughing, please do not enter an MIC facility. Please contact your teacher to make arrangements for online instruction if you feel well enough to take a lesson.

What should I do if I test positive for Covid?

If you learn that you have tested positive for COVID-19, you are not permitted in an MIC building until 5 days after symptom onset, and only if you are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication), and your symptoms are improving. Please wear a mask for 10 days after symptom onset when in MIC facilities.

What should I do if I have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for Covid?

If you learn you have been in close contact (less than 6 feet away from someone with COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period) with someone who has COVID-19, the CDC recommends the following:

If you are fully vaccinated:
If you are up to date on your vaccinations, you do not need to quarantine. You may continue to enter MIC buildings with a mask. The CDC recommends getting a Covid test after five days. If you test positive, quarantine for at least 5 days, after which you may enter MIC buildings if you are symptom-free.

If you are not fully vaccinated:
If you are not up to date with COVID-19 vaccines, quarantine for at least 5 days. You are not permitted to enter an MIC building until at least 5 days after the exposure. The CDC recommends getting a Covid test after five days.  If you test positive, quarantine for at least 5 days, after which you may enter MIC buildings if you are symptom-free.
