Music Institute Virtual Summer Chorale
June 2nd, 2020
June 30 - August 4
Six Tuesday Sessions: 7:00 – 9:30 pm | Via Zoom
Join the Music Institute Chorale for six virtual meetings under the leadership of Maestro Daniel Wallenberg. Each meeting will include sectional work where participants see the other singers, hear an audio recording of the group, and sing their part. Participants will actively participate in 75 minutes of staggered rehearsals between 7:00 and 9:30 p.m. Singers have the option of contributing an audio recording of themselves singing their part. This recording will be mixed with the other parts, including the piano part, and used during weekly meetings. A culminating final performance will be produced where participants will sing all the pieces. This performance will include special additions by Rae-Myra Hilliard, lyric soprano and Gregory Shifrin, piano.
Summer repertoire will include the following works:
“Va, Pensiero” from the opera Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi
“Laudate Dominum” from Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, K. 339 by W.A. Mozart
“Los Pescadores” by Daniel Wallenberg
“Baptism” by Nathaniel Dett
“Duerme Negrito” by Atahualpa Yupanqui
“Bells” by Adrian Dunn
“Cantique de Jean Racine” by Gabriel Fauré
