What you'll learn in guitar lessons at MIC
Lessons are built around each student. Most guitar students work on:

- Reading and ear training: tab, standard notation, and figuring out songs by ear.

Lessons for every guitarist
Kids and teens
Young guitarists start with fun, achievable songs and build a strong foundation. Teens can develop their own style, prepare for school jazz bands, and start playing with other musicians.
Adults
It's never too late to pick up the guitar. Many of our adult students are beginners. Others are returning after years away, or want to finally learn to play the songs they love.
Beyond guitar
Our guitar faculty also teach private lessons in ukulele, mandolin, and songwriting.

At MIC, private lessons are one part of nurturing the whole musician, alongside practice, music theory, ensembles, and performance. Guitar students can join jazz combos and chamber music groups and perform in recitals at Nichols Concert Hall.
Prefer to learn in a group setting?
We also offer beginning and intermediate guitar and ukulele group classes, and guitar ensembles. It's a great way to make music while making friends.

Private guitar lessons are available for students ages five and up. For students aged 0-5, we recommend our RCM Smart Start early childhood classes.
