Chicago Amateur Piano Competition

Chicago Amateur Piano Competition

Congratulations to Brent Arnold, MIC piano student of Alexander Djordjevic who won third place, best performance of a contemporary piece (Ligeti's "The Devil's Staircase") and the audience award at the first contest in the Midwest honoring the fundamental role amateur pianists play in promoting the piano and its repertoire.  After more than an hour of deliberation, Arnold received third place (from an original field of 53 pianists). The Chicago Amateur Piano Competition was established to offer a chance for amateurs to perform the music they love, to celebrate all the wonders of the piano, and to encourage fellow amateur pianists in a friendly atmosphere.  The competition took place on May 27 at Roosevelt University's Ganz Hall in downtown Chicago.
