Esteemed violinist, artist, humanitarian, and the Dorothy Richard Starling Chair in Violin Studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and Distinguished Visiting Artist at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, will present a master class on Saturday, November 11, at 4:30 pm in Nichols Concert Hall.

Midori was born in Osaka in 1971 and began her violin studies with her mother, Setsu Goto, at an early age. In 1982, conductor Zubin Mehta invited the then 11-year-old Midori to perform with the New York Philharmonic in the orchestra’s annual New Year’s Eve concert, where the foundation was laid for her following career.

This free class is open to the public.

Three MIC Academy violinists perform for Midori at this special master class.

  • Tristan Zhu - Barber concerto, first movement
  • Lily Sullivan - Brahms concerto, first movement
  • Elle Cho - Paganini concerto #1, first movement

The class will conclude at 6:00 pm.
