Compilation of Awards and Scholarships (2006 - 2024)

Here is a sampling of award winners since 2006 including the current Academy season.

2023- 2024 Awards and Achievements

Violinist Lily Sullivan placed third in the International LOUIS SPOHR Competition for Young Violinists. The competition received 113 applications across three age categories — of those, 60 candidates from 20 countries worldwide performed in Weimar for the event. Students in the final round performed the Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1, G minor op. 26, with the Orchestra of the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar, with conductor Nicolás Pasquet. The competition is named for Louis Spohr (1784-1859), who was a masterful violinist, conductor, pedagogue, music festival organizer, and composer of almost 300 works including violin concertos, symphonies, string quartets, and operas. Lily travels to the Academy each week from Indianapolis, IN, where she studies with Professor Grigory Kalinovsky, a faculty member at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Lily also participated in the Jerusalem Music Center Huberman Project and attended master classes in Israel.

Pianist Noah Kim performed Mozart, Debussy, Kapustin, and Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes on a European tour in Paris and Hamburg. The Paris Committee and Hamburg Committee of CSCI sponsored Noah to do a recital in Hamburg last April. This recital is the second of a series of six recitals that Noah will be doing around the world. Noah was the 2022 winner of the renowned Crain-Maling Foundations Young Artists Piano Competition and is a scholarship fellow at the Young Pianists Abroad Program, a scholarship created in cooperation with Chicago Sister Cities International and The Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Cellist Amelia Zitoun earned the prestigious Gold Medal at the Stulberg International String Competition in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The Silver Medal was awarded to former Academy violinist, Esme Arias-Kim. Six finalists competed before a panel of judges and an audience, and Amelia was awarded the Burdick-Thorne Gold Medal with a cash prize of $6,000 and a concerto performance with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra (Julian Kuerti, Music Director) and/or the Grand Rapids Symphony (Marcelo Lehninger, Music Director), as well as a concerto performance with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra (Markand Thakar, Music Director) in the subsequent season.
