The Newberry Consort and The Haymarket Opera Company present Jacopo Peri’s Euridice, the oldest surviving opera, in a concert-style production for the first time since its American premiere in 1981. Featuring a cast of celebrated artists and an orchestra of period instruments including cornetto, sackbut, recorders, violins, viols, chamber organ, harpsichord, harp, and lirone. Euridice transports the listener to a mythical world exploring the intriguing intersections of love, magic, and power.
