Congratulations to Esme Arias-Kim, 16, winner of the 2022 Arthur D. Montzka Young Artists Concerto Competition, who performed Concerto in D Major, Op. 35, by Korngold. Esme will perform in concert on Saturday, February 19, with the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra at the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra's Arthur D. Montzka Memorial Concert, in the NIU Boutell Memorial Concert Hall, DeKalb, IL.
Congratulations to the runner up, former Academy student Kimiko Darcy, who performed Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat major, S. 124, by Liszt and to Academy violin student Abigail Park, who received an honorable mention for her performance of Tzigane, by Ravel. Both Arias-Kim and Park study with esteemed faculty member Almita Vamos.
The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s annual Arthur D. Montzka Young Artists Concerto Competition was begun by Art Montzka in 1986 and has enjoyed a proud tradition of featuring some of Northern Illinois’ finest young artists.
