Joshua Brown Earns Another Prestigious Honor

Joshua Brown, Academy student at the Music Institute of Chicago recently received the Grand Prize in the 2016 ENKOR International Music Competition. The competition is broken down into four age categories that award just one first prize in addition to several second and third place prizes. The winner is determined by calculating the highest scores across all four categories. Not only did Joshua score highest across all four categories in the violin, but he also was awarded the highest score in the history of the competition. Although this is a big accomplishment for Joshua, it is certainly not the first. A year ago, he was a Rachel Barton Pine Scholarship recipient in addition to being both Second Place and the Audience Award winner in the 2015 Cooper International Violin Competition in Ohio. Being quite the talented solo musician, he is also a talented chamber musician. As a member of the Fortis Piano Quartet, he was named the Grand Prize Winner in the A.N. & Pearl G. Barnett Chamber Music Competition, and was a semifinalist in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Joshua’s future is certainly bright, and we are excited to see more of his impressive accomplishments down the road!
