Meet award-winning violinist Aiden Yu

Music Institute of Chicago violinist Aiden Yu is a 13 years old Merit Scholarship recipient who currently studies with faculty member Davis King. Throughout his years studying at the Music Institute of Chicago, Aiden has consistently participated and won many prizes and accolades from international competitions hailing from North America, Europe and Asia.  He is also a winner in national and regional competitions.  

 

In 2022, he won first prizes in the Tokyo International Youth Music Competition, Concorso International “Citta di Villafranca VR” (Italy), SAM (Society of American Musicians) intermediate 1st prize, and at the Mimas Festival (Italy). Other 2022 wins include: platinum prize at the Quebec Music Competition, 2nd Prize juried performance at the Enkor Competition and Honorable Mention at the DePaul Concerto Competition.  

His 2021 prizes include 2nd place in the Intermediate division at the Sejong Music Competition (held in Ilinois).  He also won Honorable Mention, open division, at the prestigious Walgreens National Competition held last winter.  (Read about his winnings in previous years in his 2020 SAM profile).
