MIC Academy at Harris Fest

The Music Institute of Chicago will participate in Harris Fest on Saturday, September 9 alongside many Chicago arts organizations to help commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Harris Festival for Music and Dance. Harris Fest: Music + Dance in the Park, is an all-day event spotlighting the dozens of Resident Companies for whom the Harris has been a home base and supportive partner over the past 20 years.

The celebratory kick-off to the Harris’ 20th anniversary season will feature performances spanning ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance, as well as classical music, opera, and interactive workshops hosted by participating artists. Harris Fest programming—will run from 10 am to 9 pm and be entirely free to the public. Daytime programming will include pop-up performances near Millennium Park’s iconic Cloud Gate sculpture and on the Great Lawn, along with masterclasses, workshops, and other activities for visitors of all ages. In the evening, the Harris will present fully staged performances at the Pritzker Pavilion.This exciting celebration takes place in the North Pavilion of Millennium Park.   

Schedule:

  • 10 am - 5 pm: stop by to say hello at the MIC information table.
  • 4-4:30 pm: don't miss an MIC Academy student perofrmance by Tristan Zhu, violin and Jan Nedvetsky, cello

Stay for the evening concert scheduled at the Pritzker Pavilion.
