Summer is a great time to make music. Whether you're learning an instrument for the first time, returning to music after a long hiatus, or continuing lessons, the Music Institute of Chicago has a wide variety of summer opportunities for all ages and level designed to fit your schedule and interests.

Private Music Lessons
Enjoy MIC’s flexible summer session and sign up for the number of lessons that work best for you. Work with MIC's unparalleled faculty convenient locations across Chicago, Downers Grove, Evanston, Lake Forest, and Winnetka.
Summer Camps & Festivals
Delve into music and spend some extra time honing your skills while enjoying conversation and friendship with fellow music-lovers! MIC offers summer camps, retreats, and "intensives" for youth and adults across a variety of instruments at Evanston, Winnetka, and Lake Forest locations. Browse offerings by month, age,

Summer Group Classes
Musikgarten
Play musically with your baby, develop a strong musical bond with your toddler, and lay foundational skills for musical literacy and listening through Musikgarten music and movement classes for babies-age 6.

GUITAR & UKULELE
Make new friends, have fun, and build your musical chops with group guitar (ages 8-12) or ukulele classes (ages 7-12) at MIC! Get started by learning popular chord progressions and scales shapes across pop, folk, and rock genres, learn to improvise, and build invaluable songwriting and ear-training skills.
Jazz
Adult students enjoy learning jazz standards, delve into jazz theory and history, and unlocking their creativity by building improvisational skills. Summer jazz combo and improvisation classes are available for all instruments and voice.
CHAMBER MUSIC
This summer MIC has a new chamber music opportunity for musicians ages 10-18. Chamber Music Mondays feature coachings and performance classes with our prestigious faculty. Meet new friends who share your passion for playing music together.
Pianists gain gain both practical skills and intellectual understanding of concerto repertoire with MIC's Piano Concerto Summer Program: From Soloist to Collaborator for pianists ages 9-18. This summer program is designed for students who are beginning their first piano concerto, as well as advanced students who wish to strengthen and expand their existing concerto repertoire. Instruction will be tailored to each student’s level, repertoire, and technical needs, allowing all participants to make meaningful progress. 
A new Chamber Music Festival for Adults features a team up of the MIC ensemble-in-residence, Quintet Attacca, and the MIC Chamber Music program. Open to adult musicians, the festival includes coaching session culminating in a performance at Nichols Concert Hall.
Adult Ensembles
MIC Concert Band - Led by Nick Collins, the MIC Concert Band is designed for adults of all ages. If you played an instrument earlier in life and are ready to take it up again, MIC can help you get back in shape quickly and recapture the excitement of playing music. If you have never played an instrument before, it's never too late to give it a try! Meet new people and enjoy making music in a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere.
Music Institute Chorale Summer Sing-along
Featuring: Mozart: Coronation Mass & Schubert: Mass in G 
Join conductor Daniel Wallenberg and the Music Institute Chorale for its annual summer sing-along. Join the Chorale for July rehearsals, or just come join the sing-along.
