Education: 

Claire Aebersold Neiweem earned her Bachelor's degree from The New England Conservatory and her Master's in Music from Northwestern University.  She has also received her Performer’s Certificate from Villa Schifanoia in Florence, Italy and earned five Diplomas of Merit, International Master Classes at Arezzo, Italy.  Claire also attended Peabody Institute of Music.  She was a student of Ylda Novik, Theodore Lettvin, Orazio Frugoni and participated in master classes with Irwin Freundlich, Leon Fleisher, John Browning. 

Awards and achievements: 

Claire is a winner at the National Arts and Letters competition and the Three Rivers Competition.  A member of the award-winning duo-piano team of Aebersold and Neiweem with husband Ralph Neiweem.  As part of the Aebersold and Neiweem duo-piano team, she toured throughout the U.S. and Europe, including six concert tours of Italy; performances for WFMT radio; performances for PBS TV (30 minute special on Aebersold and Neiweem).  The Aebersold-Neiweem team performed live for Radio Italiana Television and made first recording of Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 15 for piano 4-hands on the Summit label.

Professional affiliations & activities: 

Claire is a long-standing piano faculty member at the Music Institute, and with her husband Ralph, she co-founded the Chicago Duo-Piano Festival, the Chicago Duo Piano Festival's Winter Mini-Fest and the International Duo Piano Competition, held annually at the Music Institute of Chicago.
