Student Spotlight: Duo Dunamis

Meet Duo Dunamis !

Formed in 2023 by Dr. Soo Young Lee, Duo Dunamis features David Goetz (17) of Glenview and Ryan Hu (16) of Winnetka. Since their debut at the Chicago Duo Piano Festival at the Music Institute of Chicago, they have explored a wide range of piano duo repertoire and performed for diverse audiences. They have been a duo for three years!

The duo has earned Gold and Silver Medals at the Sonata–Sonatina Festivals (Duo Division) sponsored by the Chicago Music Teachers Associations. They performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall after winning First Prize in both the Solo and Duo Piano divisions of the American Protégé Competition. They have also performed on the 2025–2026 Young Steinway Concert Series and were featured on the 2026 Plymouth Young Artists Series. This summer, they will perform as Emerging Young Artists of the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association.

Ryan was featured in the 2026 Chinese Lunar New Year Concert and has performed piano masterclasses for Angela Cheng and Alvin Chow of Oberlin Conservatory of Music. David recently performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D Minor, K. 466 with the Loyola Academy Symphony Orchestra, where he serves as president.
