Friday, January 20 at 7 pm
Nichols Concert Hall

The Music Institute of Chicago kicks off its new songwriting program with a performance by fast-rising singer-songwriter pop duo Carly and Martina.
Opening the show is Layla Frankel, local singer songwriter and educator.
Beginning on January 30, the Music Institute will expand its musical offerings to include workshops focused on the art of songwriting. Aspiring singer songwriters, who play guitar or keyboard, will be taught by experienced professional musicians, each with expertise in songwriting and performing.
Offerings include Introduction to Songwriting, an eight-week workshop designed for guitar and keyboard players with little or no formal training or experience and an Intermediate Songwriting workshop, also eight weeks, for guitar and keyboard players with basic proficiency. An optional open mic show is offered with the class and aspiring solo songwriters and songwriting teams are welcome.
