Soprano Chelsea Shephard Finding Professional Success

Chelsea Morris Shephard, a voice student of MIC faculty member Susan Charles, is being noticed. After appearing in the chorus in the Lyric Opera of Chicago's production of Wagner's Das Rheingold, she is maintaining a busy professional schedule. Later this month, Chelsea will be soloist in the Chicago Chorale's performance of Bach's B Minor Mass. Then in May, she will make her Carnegie Hall debut as soloist in Brahms' A German Requiem, performed by the Celcilia Chorus of New York under the direction of Mark Shapiro.

In his review of the 2015 New York Festival of Song, Steven Jude Tietjen of Opera News, wrote,  "Soprano Chelsea Morris lent her flawless legato and tear-tinged voice to Bellini’s “La ricordanza.” Carlson joined Morris for a charming duet from Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix, a welcome, energetic alternative to more familiar duets from L’Elisir d’amore and Don Pasquale. A native of Paw Paw, Michigan, Chelsea holds degrees from Rice University and DePaul University.
